Thank you very much! As far as research in Australia at the moment: there's enough material for everyone to work on, but it's difficult with an anti-science government controlling funding.

That is what I've (unfortunately) heard. I'm swinging down there from the States to Monash U. in January to start my PhD, and I keep hearing horror stories about the direction the government is going.
